She obtained her Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Kansas and her Master of Arts degree in Counseling from MidAmerica Nazarene University. She is a member in good standing with the American Counseling Association and the Chi Sigma Iota National Counseling Honor Society.
Ashton has been in private practice since October 2014. She counsels mainly from a Cognitive-Behavioral approach in which the treatment focuses primarily on the client's cognitive thoughts and how this affects behavior. Treatment will also look at the system in which you and your situation exists including, family, work, religion, society, etc. and seek to understand how these factors affect your situation.
Ashton's number one priority is to understand her clients and their struggles. She wants to help clients find solutions that work for their lives.
"I want you to feel supported and encouraged during our time together each session. I will help you sort out what isn't working, clarify your feelings and thoughts, and guide you along your path towards change."
Ashton is passionate about helping couples resolve their issues and gain a deeper connection. She believes a fulfilling romantic relationship is a healthy and rewarding part of life. Ashton is Prepare/Enrich certified, a relationship skill-building tool aimed at strengthening the couple's relationship.
"During our work together, I will help you repair wounds that block relationship growth and help you rebuild a stronger foundation of intimacy and trust."
